In the aftermath of the Japan earthquake, safety of nuclear energy is being questioned globally. This talk will try to clarify what went wrong in the Fukushima nuclear plant, and what lessons we can learn from this event. From the basics of nuclear energy production to how we can protect ourselves against radiation, the talk will address a number of important issues. The future of nuclear energy will be questioned in the light of increasing global energy demand.
